Nothing can change the whole mood of your home like an arrangement of fresh flowers. They are my ultimate go-to in decorating, and I do it so often that my trips to the flower store - whether it is a fancy florist, the local bodega, Whole Foods or 28th Street - have become a bi-weekly ritual.
I gravitate towards flowers that look good in a bunch, and I keep things pretty monochromatic. If I am going for a red arrangement, I pick out 4 different red flowers with varying textures and heights, and keep the greenery to a minimum. That’s the trick for making even your poorest quality deli flowers looking chic and making a lasting impression - NO GREENS PLS (except if they are Bells of Ireland!).
To make the flowers last, I cut them down and make sure to change the water every single day…it really does make a difference, and I can often get the flowers to last for over 5 days.
